Description
The YB-12/0.4 prefabricated substation puts the high voltage compartment, the transformer and the low voltage panel into one enclosure that is assembled, wired and tested before dispatch. It is the standard solution for distribution points where a building is not justified: residential compounds, industrial plants, renewable generation, ports and highways.
Layout
The enclosure is divided into three compartments. The high voltage room takes the ring main unit or the metal-clad panel; the transformer room is dimensioned for the selected transformer and has a base frame that accepts a roller so the unit can be moved in and out; the low voltage room takes the main breaker, metering, compensation and the outgoing ways. Partitions and interlocks prevent access to a live compartment.

Construction details
- Roof: double-layer, removable for transformer replacement.
- Ventilation: louvred and filtered openings sized for the transformer losses, with an internal thermal barrier.
- Finish: outdoor grade coating; the outer skin can be specified to match the surrounding buildings.
- Automation: FTU interface and remote signalling available for distribution automation projects.
Scope note
CWNE builds the enclosure, the high voltage compartment and the low voltage panel in its own workshop. The transformer is supplied as a selected unit from a qualified partner and integrated into the substation, and its type, rating and origin are stated on the offer. This is deliberate: the transformer is matched to the project rather than fixed by the enclosure supplier.
Ordering information
Send the transformer rating and type, the HV single-line diagram and earthing arrangement, the LV load schedule, the site conditions (temperature, altitude, pollution, wind and snow) and the required enclosure finish.
FAQ
Is the transformer manufactured by CWNE?
No. The transformer is supplied as a selected unit from a qualified partner and integrated into the substation by CWNE, which builds the enclosure, the HV compartment and the LV panel. The transformer type and origin are stated on the offer.
Which transformer types can be integrated?
Oil-immersed S9, S10 or S11 type distribution transformers, or cast-resin dry-type transformers, depending on the installation and the fire requirements.
How many outgoing circuits does the LV panel take?
Up to 30 circuits in plug-in construction, together with the main breaker, metering and reactive power compensation in the same compartment.
Can the substation support distribution automation?
Yes. An FTU interface and remote signalling can be provided for smart grid and distribution automation projects.
What is the ambient temperature range?
The standard enclosure is rated from -25 °C to +40 °C at an altitude of up to 2000 m. Outside these limits the design is agreed per project.
